The New Britain Health Department recently released its first Community Health Report Card. The Report Card summarizes data on the relevant and significant community indicators that provide an overall health snapshot of the city of New Britain in comparison to the State of Connecticut and Hartford County, where data was existing. Among other findings, the leading cause of cancer mortality in New Britain from 2003-2007 was lung cancer; and birth rates to women under 20 years of age were higher than those in Hartford County and statewide. The Report Card was created to strengthen its collaborative planning efforts with partners in preventive care and health promotion.
